New mural appears in Glasgow as filming of Hollywood movie gets underway

The work, by renowned city graffiti artist Rogue One, is located on a wall on Charlotte Street in the Trongate area.
Inspired by the 1996 film Trainspotting, the mural depicts Ewan McGregor’s character Renton and his famous line “It’s s**** being Scottish”.
(Image: Gordon Terris) The mural is understood to have been created recently and is used in the background of scenes in James McAvoy’s directorial debut California Schemin’, which is being filmed in the city.

The film centres around Gavin Bain and Billy Boyd who are fed up with London record producers not taking Scottish rap seriously and dismissing them as “rapping Proclaimers”.
Better known as Silibil N’ Brains, the duo soon embark on a remarkable journey rapping alongside Eminem, partying backstage with Madonna and being tipped as among the next generation of rising stars.
We previously reported that McAvoy announced a free noughties-themed Barrowlands gig as part of the production.
