Education Minded Leader Nichelle Henderson Pledges Renewed Commitment To Families

As nine candidates compete for California’s next superintendent of public instruction, Nichelle Henderson’s unique perspective and extensive experience stand out. Having dedicated much of her career to California classrooms while actively participating in local politics, Henderson’s candidacy is attracting considerable support from various organizations in Sacramento.On September 25, community members convened at Tap Wine Lounge for a meet-and-greet, facilitated by former mayoral candidate Flojaune Cofer and other local entities. Cofer expressed her belief that Henderson's drive stems from a sincere dedication to education, rather than ambition for a title.Henderson’s journey in education began with volunteering in her child’s preschool, eventually leading her to shift from electrical engineering to education. She has taught sixth grade in Compton and is currently preparing future educators at Fresno State. Advocating for crucial educational reforms, she emphasizes the importance of firsthand teaching experience in the governor's office.If elected, she would become the first Black woman to hold the position, shaping California's educational landscape for its diverse student population.
