Saint Lucia’s Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport (DIPT) says it has begun clearing debris caused by a landslide in the area between Trois Piton and Bagatelle.
A DIPT official explained that, as a result, there would be no access for vehicles traveling from Ti Rocher to Bagatelle.
According to the official, St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has already addressed the power line issue caused by the landslide, which occurred during Thursday morning’s heavy rainfall.
The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services had issued a flooding and landslides advisory, urging residents and motorists in areas prone to such occurrences to take necessary precautions.
Forecaster Glenn Antoine posted that the weather would be mostly cloudy with scattered showers, which would be heavy in some locations.
In the noon forecast, Antoine wrote that there would also be thunderstorms.
However, the Met Office official indicated no expectation of tropical cyclone formation in the next 48 hours.
