OBSERVER Endorses Cofer For Mayor Of Sacramento

The 2024 Sacramento race for mayor has been one of the most hotly contested races in this city’s history. Following the race of four candidates in the March primary, for the first time ever, two African American candidates emerged for the general election: Dr. Flojaune “Flo” Cofer and Kevin McCarty.Sacramento is at an important crossroads. The last two terms under current Mayor Darrell Steinberg have been challenging for sure. Some of the things this seasoned politician has had to navigate include: the killing of Stephon Clark, the growing unhoused population, the local response to the COVID pandemic and an exodus of people and businesses from Sacramento’s downtown core.
