One Win For Saint Lucia In Martinique Boxing

By Terry Finisterre A team of four fighters from Saint Lucia traveled to Martinique at the weekend for the sixth Martinique Boxing Show, hosted by the Move & Box Academy. They came away with one win. Orlando Monrose from the Castries gym competed in the -66kg (Cadet) class, going up against Tayris Mozar of Hibiscus Boxing Club, Guadeloupe. Monrose won his bout by unanimous decision after three two-minute rounds.  In the -67kg senior division, fighting three three-minute rounds, Justice Joseph of Castries lost to Michel Fidole of L’Academie Move & Box. Vieux Fort’s Kyle Marcel contested the 77kg senior category against Anthony Maugée, L’Academie Move & Box. The Frenchman emerged victorious.  And in the -80kg senior group, Jackson Julien from Martinique club Poings D’Acier Schoelcherois overcame Vieux Fort’s John Didier. All three losses at the Mangot Vulcin Route du Vert-Pré in Lamentin were by split decision. The Martinique Boxing Show is a series of major events, in the form of galas open to the general public. The Saint Lucian contingent, as well as some of their counterparts from Martinique and Guadeloupe, will hope to face off against boxers from Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Grenada, Guyana,...
