Phoenix Theatre Premieres Terry Guest’s Southern Gothic Horror ‘Oak’ in Rolling World Debut

Acclaimed playwright Terry Guest returns to the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre with the world premiere of Oak, running May 22–June 8 as part of the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. Directed by Mikael Burke, Oak is a Southern Gothic horror story set in Rome, Georgia, exploring legacy, grief, and supernatural truth through the eyes of three siblings, an elderly woman with a shotgun, and a mysterious creek-dwelling monster. The production features a dynamic cast and immersive design team, complemented by Where the Roots Reach Water, a gallery installation enhancing the play’s haunting themes.
