Acclaimed playwright Terry Guest returns to the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre with the world premiere of Oak, running May 22–June 8 as part of the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. Directed by Mikael Burke, Oak is a Southern Gothic horror story set in Rome, Georgia, exploring legacy, grief, and supernatural truth through the eyes of three siblings, an elderly woman with a shotgun, and a mysterious creek-dwelling monster. The production features a dynamic cast and immersive design team, complemented by Where the Roots Reach Water, a gallery installation enhancing the play’s haunting themes. Tickets ($20–$24) are available online or by calling 317-635-7529. An ASL-interpreted performance will be held June 1. Prepare for a bold, poetic, and darkly comedic journey into the Southern psyche.
