Pierre Commits To Inclusiveness As Budget Meetings Begin

On Thursday, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Philip J. Pierre committed to transparency and inclusiveness as he began meetings with the heads of departments of various government agencies to prepare for the 2025-2026 budget.
“Prime Minister Pierre reiterates his commitment to a transparent and inclusive budgetary process that addresses the needs of all Saint Lucians,” an Office of the Prime Minister release stated.
According to the release, Pierre’s meetings with government department heads aim to evaluate national priorities, review ongoing projects, and address emerging challenges.
It disclosed that the discussions focus on optimising resource allocation and identifying necessary adjustments as the fiscal year unfolds.
“The meetings are a key step in aligning the upcoming 2025-2026 National Budget with the Government of Saint Lucia’s goals of sustainable development, economic growth, and social well-being,” the PM’s office explained.
It disclosed that focus areas include healthcare, national security, infrastructure, education, and job creation, emphasising strategic investments to tackle the nation’s pressing issues.
Pierre’s office has announced that the Saint Lucia economy is on track to grow by 4.3% in 2024-25, registering a fourth consecutive year of GDP growth above 3% since he came to government in July 2021.
