During Thursday's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers, Dennis Santana, a relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, confronted a fan, throwing a punch after declaring that the supporter “crossed the line.” This altercation occurred during the seventh inning of the second game near the visitors' bullpen. Santana, however, declined to provide specific details regarding the events that led up to his altercation.After the game, Santana communicated through an interpreter, expressing, “You all know me — I’m typically calm.” He continued, “I've never faced issues with any of the teams I've been a part of. This individual overstepped repeatedly.” He added, “I prefer to leave it at that. In my eight years of baseball, nothing like this has occurred.”Footage circulated online depicted Santana approaching the fan's area, gesturing towards him while a security guard was present before he lunged to strike. A teammate intervened, preventing him from leaving the bullpen.
