Authorities are probing a troubling viral clip that captures an altercation between police and a motorist during a traffic stop. Recognizing that the officers’ conduct “strayed from established police protocols and the fundamental tenets of professional behavior and human rights,” the investigation has gained significant public interest. The video depicts officers instructing a driver, reportedly a prominent lawyer, to deactivate his ignition in preparation for a vehicle impoundment, while the driver insists on receiving a ticket instead. The situation intensifies when one officer threatens to shoot if the driver attempts to flee, amid protests from a female passenger. Remarkably, one of the officers was previously associated with another contentious traffic stop that also received public scrutiny. Superintendent Troy E. Lamontagne confirmed the initiation of an internal investigation shortly after the footage emerged on June 18, with early findings revealing a procedural violation, reaffirming the police’s dedication to community engagement and enhanced road safety.
