Police Physically Remove Man From Vehicle For Expired Registration

Eric Murphy said he feared for his life as soon as he saw the police lights flashing.
The 31-year-old Meadowview resident was pulled over by Sacramento police around 8 p.m. Feb. 10 for not signaling. In a video on social media, officers can be seen reaching into the vehicle attempting to physically remove Murphy from his car.
Murphy said his fear stemmed from the knowledge of what seems to happen when police become physical with drivers.
“Here we go again,” Murphy told The OBSERVER about his thoughts in the moment. “This could be my last day.”
The Sacramento Police Department said it is aware of the video circulating that depicts the incident.
Murphy was stopped near Franklin Boulevard and 51st Avenue for vehicle code violations, according to police. Murphy said he was given a ticket for expired registration and expired insurance, and that his car was towed. He was not arrested.
