Popular Birmingham pastry chef delivers flashy, graffiti style cake to R&B singer before sold out show

R&B singer Chris Brown received a four-layer graffiti style cake from a Birmingham based pastry artist outside of his dressing room at the BJCC before hitting the stage on Thursday night.
Kristal Bryant, head pastry chef and owner of K&J’s Elegant Pastries, created the cake specifically for the controversial singer.
“I did a lot of research on what he may like in a cake. He likes to draw and paint. So my initial thought was to grab some of his art work to print out to create an edible images,” explained Bryant.

“I also included the tour’s logo and the galaxy theme. And then I read online that he likes strawberry cheesecake, so the bottom layer is a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and cheesecake chunks, middle tier was Oreo’s cookie and creme, and then the top layer was just vanilla. Then I was able to get the topper made with blinged out lights. I work with a lady, Andrea Smith, who makes toppers for my cakes, and she created the ‘Breezy in Bham’ sign with lights on the sign.
