Prayers of reparation are a time-honored Catholic tradition. They allow us to participate in Christ’s act of redemptive suffering on the Cross.
As the Democratic National Convention wraps up tonight, Christians all over America are left stunned by its almost manic celebration of abortion and mutilation.
Over 20 unborn children died at Planned Parenthood’s “free chemical abortion” van. Unconfirmed numbers of men were given vasectomies at no charge in the same vehicle. Men and women danced in the streets dressed as abortion drugs.
And the one Catholic prelate invited to invoke God’s help for the Democratic party failed even to mention the name of Jesus Christ.
What can we do in the face of so much evil? We can make reparation through prayers, fasting, and sacrifice.
Here are several prayers of reparation to which Catholics have turned through the centuries.
The Fatima Prayers
In 1917, the Angel of Portugal appeared to three shepherd children – Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto, and Venerable Lucia – to prepare them for the appearance of the Our Lady of Fatima. He taught them several prayers of reparation for sins.
