Darryl "Buster" Skrine, a former NFL cornerback who accumulated over $40 million, primarily with the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets, is now facing 18 charges in Georgia linked to a purported extensive financial fraud operation. Authorities allege that he deceived women he met on dating platforms, extracting significant sums to sustain a lavish lifestyle.
Specifically, Skrine faces multiple allegations, including five counts of financial transaction fraud, five counts of identity theft, and three counts each of deposit account fraud and criminal attempt—theft by taking. Investigators suspect there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with relevant information to step forward.
Following a report from a victim in July, the Roswell Police Department apprehended Skrine on August 27. Investigators revealed he fabricated financial crises to extract money under the pretense of repayment from his NFL annuity. Skrine's illicit activities reportedly netted him about $300,000 from three victims across various states.
