Akron police said two patrol officers were parked in a marked cruiser when they heard gunshots go off nearby. Jazmir’s grandfather, Gary Green, said he believes his grandson was walking to his brother’s house when he was shot. It’s unclear whether Jazmir pointed a gun at the officer or if he fired the shots the officers initially heard. “Give us some answers. Why did you have to shoot my grandson like that?” Green said. When asked if he knew about Jazmir having a gun, Green said, “No, these kids out here, they have a gun for their protection because all this radical stuff going on in Akron.” The two officers involved in the incident have been put on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
