Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — Rapper Sean Kingston received a sentence of three and a half years in prison on Friday, following his conviction for orchestrating a $1 million fraudulent scheme. The scheme involved exploiting his celebrity status to con vendors into providing luxury items without payment.
Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, along with his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, faced a federal jury in March, where both were found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, alongside four wire fraud counts. Last month, Turner received a five-year sentence.
In the courtroom, Kingston expressed remorse for his actions to U.S. Judge David Leibowitz. His attorney sought a delay for surrendering due to health concerns, but the judge mandated his immediate detention. During his arrest, Kingston was in a black suit when he was handcuffed and led away.
Their arrests followed a SWAT team operation in May 2024 at Kingston's rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale. Reports indicate Kingston falsely claimed payments for various luxurious items via social media.
