Congressman Al Green, representing Texas, has instigated impeachment proceedings against President Trump, making history as the sole U.S. president to endure this process twice. Serving in Congress since 2005, Green conveyed to Newsweek the imperative of advancing impeachment before “tanks are rolling down the street.” On May 19, he introduced a resolution asserting Trump’s incapacity to embody “the American ideals of decency, morality, respectability, and integrity,” alongside the core values enshrined in pivotal documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The likelihood of a House vote on this impeachment initiative remains ambiguous.
