COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jodi Whitted (D-Madeira) released the following statement concerning troubling comments made about Buckeye Flame journalist Ken Schneck’s sexuality:
“I am disgusted by the comments made by my colleague. Baseless, hateful, and bigoted attacks on people of the LGBTQIA+ community are never appropriate and should not be brushed aside.
I think it is especially deplorable for a state representative to say these things. I haven’t been a legislator for very long, but I know that as a public official I am supposed to set an example. We are trusted to be role models for every member of our community, not to shamelessly attack them. Spewing this vitriol is careless and damaging.
This representative showed his true colors today. I wish I could say that I was surprised. But I am not. I am just angry. His lack of tact and respect for other people are in complete juxtaposition of the dignity of this office and the dignity we should give our fellow Ohioans,” said Rep. Whitted.
Ken Schneck detailed the online hatred he faced in a July 31st editorial posted on the Buckeye Flame.
