In a strategic initiative to confront the hurdles of local journalism, Report for America has announced the deployment of 107 journalists across various U.S. newsrooms. This 31% increase over prior projections elevates the total active corps to 187, including 14 CatchLight photojournalism fellows. “These journalists are stepping into essential roles during a crucial period,” noted Kim Kleman, the executive director of Report for America. This year's selection process drew from over 1,300 applicants, featuring numerous participating newsrooms that are new to the program. Their dedication to inclusivity is reflected in the diverse backgrounds of the cohort, with representatives from 34 states and Puerto Rico, half identifying as people of color, and 60% as women. Their impactful reporting will focus on critical, yet often overlooked, subjects. For more information on the 2025-26 corps members, please visit reportforamerica.org.
