Edna Earle Bond, a distinguished former educator in Memphis City Schools, passed away at 84 years old. She dedicated 21 years teaching Business and Office Technology at Central High School, where her roles extended to being the Student Council Sponsor and Flag Corps Sponsor. Single and childless, Edna Earle hailed from a farming family in Denmark, Tennessee, alongside her eleven siblings. She leaves behind a brother, Howard Ernest Bond, and a sister, Arizona Bond. A longtime resident of Indigo Riverview, she cherished Downtown Memphis. A proud graduate of Tennessee State University and The University of Memphis, her notable career encompassed work for various institutions, including the Memphis TVA Allen Steam Plant and Federal Judge Odell Horton during the 1968 Sanitation Strike. Her community involvement was comprehensive, including key roles in numerous educational and charitable organizations. Edna Earle was known for her curiosity, often posing intricate questions. A vital lesson she imparted, especially during the 2020 pandemic, was to “Pass It On.”
