Unleashing Potential: Dr. C.C.'s Remarkable Path to Impactful Leadership

Dr. Candice “C.C.” Weaver exemplifies a remarkable journey in the medical field, marked by resilience and purpose. Although her path to becoming a physician was unexpected, personal loss — including the passing of a cousin due to AIDS and her father's death during adolescence — ignited her commitment to effect change. “I tackle inequity, and I pursue transformation,” notes Dr. C.C. Her activism began in high school, focusing on HIV prevention, where she garnered national recognition through an essay competition that paved the way to UC Berkeley, a bastion of social justice. She earned her Bachelor’s in Public Health Policy from UC Berkeley, participated in cancer research at Johns Hopkins, and later secured her Master’s in Public Health from Dartmouth. After receiving her medical degree from Touro University, she completed her residency at UCSF and now practices Family and Lifestyle Medicine. Additionally, Dr. C.C. holds a position on the Board of Directors for Community Solutions, Inc., dedicated to improving healthcare access for underserved populations, especially Black women confronting maternal health issues in their communities.
