A recent survey revealed that former President Barack Obama could outpace Donald Trump by a significant margin in a theoretical contest for a third presidential term. Conducted by Daily Mail/J.L. Partners from July 9 to 10, the poll surveyed 1,013 registered voters and indicated that Obama would secure 52 percent of the votes against Trump’s 41 percent. Notably, support for Obama was pronounced among Hispanic voters at 73 percent and Black voters at 68 percent, with independents backing him 50 to 39 percent over Trump. While Trump retained robust support from Republicans and rural demographics, he lagged overall. Despite Trump’s success against other Democratic candidates like Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, this poll underscores the enduring appeal of Obama’s presidency. Favorability ratings showed Obama at 59 percent, compared to Trump’s 44 percent. Legal hurdles exist regarding a third term, with the 22nd Amendment prohibiting it. Neama Rahmani dismissed Trump’s aspirations for a third term as a “political fantasy.” Obama emphasized the rule of law, asserting, “No person is above the law.”
