The Regional Security System (RSS) has expressed its appreciation to two schools in Saint Lucia for their contribution to the organisation’s Unity Exercise 2024 (UNEX 24), which took place from April 3 to 13. The Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) housed the troops, while Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School served as the operational headquarters and the location for some exercises. As a token of appreciation, the RSS presented a public address system to the CCSS. RSS Project Officer Elizabeth Bradshaw presented the system to CCSS Shop Director Michael Peterkin. During UNEX 24, regional and international participants engaged in various military exercises, including land-based maneuvers and sea operations. The aim was to improve regional cooperation within the RSS in response to security issues. The issues included drug trafficking, terrorism, and other threats to border security. The UNEX 24 activities occurred across Castries, Gros Islet, and Vieux Fort. Over 200 law enforcement officials participated.
