S. Keith Hargrove has been appointed chancellor of Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, set to commence his tenure on June 15. This historically Black university boasts an enrollment of over 2,000 undergraduates and 100 graduates, with African American students constituting two-thirds of the undergraduate body. Dr. Hargrove’s extensive leadership experience at HBCUs positions him well for this role, having previously served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Tuskegee University in Alabama for three years. Before that, he dedicated 12 years to Tennessee State University as dean of the College of Engineering and head of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Engineering Research Institute. His academic career also includes seven years as a professor and chair of industrial, manufacturing, and information engineering at Morgan State University in Baltimore.
