Following four games of adaptation, the Sacramento State football team aims for continuity and a third consecutive victory this Saturday at 6 p.m. against Cal Poly, marking the Big Sky Conference opener for both squads. The Hornets, currently 2-2, have triumphed in their last two encounters, the latest being a dominant 45-16 victory over Central Arkansas last weekend. During this win streak, Sacramento State has scored at least 45 points and amassed over 500 yards of offense. In contrast, their two prior losses saw the team total just 20 points.First-year Coach Brennan Marion noted the team's growing comfort within the offense, highlighting the effective running game as a key factor. His recruitment efforts brought in 71 players, including junior quarterback Cardell Williams, who excelled in Week 3. The Hornets' defense has been impressive, leading the nation with 18 sacks. A win against Cal Poly would tie the historical series, currently standing at 10-11 in favor of the Mustangs.
