Stop Stigma Sacramento, a collaborative initiative of the Sacramento County Department of Health Services and the Division of Behavioral Health Services, hosted "Journey of Hope," an art exhibit showcasing the true experiences of individuals grappling with mental health issues. This event was visually enriched by contributions from local artists.Held at Capsity over two weekends in October, Amelia Baynes, a health educator with Stop Stigma Sacramento, noted, “It’s the only intersection of art and mental health that I know of in Sacramento County, providing a voice for those with mental health challenges.”Celebrating its eighth year, "Journey of Hope," co-founded by Laura Asay-Bemis and Aunjuli Reese-Gifford, connects those with and without mental health struggles through storytelling and visual expression. This exhibit has evolved from a one-day show into a multi-week event, fostering community engagement and conversation. Featuring 44 expressive pieces, it invites viewers to reflect on their own emotions while highlighting the healing power of art and connection. Plans for future expansions beyond Sacramento are underway, ensuring that the dialogue on mental health continues.
