Sacramento launches pilot program for homeless housing

US Media GroupThe City of Sacramento has selected two organizations to implement its Street to Housing pilot program, aimed at transitioning individuals experiencing homelessness into stable housing. This initiative is part of the city’s efforts to address the growing issue of unsheltered homelessness in the region.“The Streets to Housing program marks an important step in addressing unsheltered homelessness in Sacramento,” said Ya-yin Isle, the City’s Housing Manager. “We look forward to working with our newly selected partners to help individuals transition from encampments into stable housing.”The pilot program, which is being managed by the City’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development in collaboration with the Department of Community Response, will utilize State Encampment Resolution Funds to support its objectives.With a budget of $5.85 million, the program employs a housing-first approach to assist 100 encampment households along the Sacramento Northern Parkway. Participants will benefit from up to 12 months of rental assistance, case management, and stabilization services aimed at promoting long-term housing stability.Community HealthWorks (CoHeWo) has been tasked with providing landlord engagement and housing stabilization case management services.
