Ebony Price, shaped by her experiences with the child welfare system, is resolutely focused on charting a positive course while supporting her family. Recently, she graduated from a local Women’s Empowerment program designed to assist individuals in preparing for employment and life beyond homelessness. In January, Price found solace and camaraderie within the program. During a recent visit, she was joyfully embraced by a former acquaintance. “We used to prostitute on the streets together,” she reflected, noting her initial reluctance to reconnect due to her past struggles.Her journey began when she worked at Plates to Go, a restaurant connected to a training initiative. Following episodes in rehabilitative settings—often mandated by probation—Price discovered that self-initiated programs like Women’s Empowerment proved most beneficial.Having lost custody of her four children due to family circumstances, Price faced significant challenges. Nonetheless, she strives to forge a better future for her children and herself, often citing her youngest child’s encouragement to concentrate on self-improvement as pivotal to her recovery. Now, with a vision for her career and personal growth, Price emphasizes the importance of self-love in her healing process.
