Sacramento Republic FC is advancing its vision for a new downtown stadium in the Railyards, having submitted essential documentation to the city’s planning division before an important city council meeting scheduled for June. On Tuesday, club president Todd Dunivant revealed the filing, which seeks approval for a pivotal discussion on June 10. The ambitious stadium project is planned in two stages, occupying 14.7 acres. Phase 1 envisions seating for 12,000 fans, with a capacity expansion to 20,000 in Phase 2, downscaled from initial proposals for 25,000 seats. Incorporating fan feedback, the stadium will feature expansive amenities, including various entry points, lounges, and green initiatives, aiming for a grand opening in 2027. Experts, including Machete Group and MANICA, lead the project’s innovative design.
