Sac State President Dr. Luke Wood asserts that the future of the university and its nationally recognized sports program hinges significantly on Athletics Director Mark Orr. Orr facilitated achievements in football and various sports like volleyball, soccer, track and field, and golf, showcasing dominance in D-I athletics.Rooted in South Sacramento, Orr’s upbringing was steeped in sports, with a family that valued athleticism as vital for personal development. After a standout collegiate football career at UC Berkeley, injuries redirected him towards administration, leading him to pivotal roles at St. Mary’s College before returning to Sacramento as Sac State's athletics director in 2017.Orr’s initiatives have revitalized community engagement with Sac State.
