Said Sewell Named Eleventh President of Morris College in South Carolina

Said Sewell has been named the eleventh president of Morris College. He will assume his presidency on July 1. Morris College is a historically Black college in Sumter, South Carolina. The college enrolls just under 400 undergraduate students, 93 percent of whom are Black. Dr. Sewell has an extensive background in HBCU leadership. He has been serving as director and chief academic, research, and student affairs officer for the Atlanta University Center Consortium. Prior to his present position, he served as vice president for student affairs at Morehouse College in Atlanta, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, and executive director of the Academic Success Center at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. Outside his vast experience with HBCUs, Dr. Sewell previously served as assistant provost for academic affairs and dean of undergraduate studies at Kent State University in Ohio and interim department head at the University of West Georgia.
