Nigerian President Honored with Knighthood by Saint Lucia

During an official State event at the Governor General’s residence on Monday evening, Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received one of Saint Lucia’s most esteemed national distinctions. Acting upon advice from the Prime Minister, Governor General Errol Charles awarded him the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL). The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) stated that this honour recognizes Tinubu’s influential leadership across Africa and his diligent efforts to enhance relationships between the African continent and the Caribbean islands. “This decision highlights Saint Lucia’s gratitude for President Tinubu’s steadfast dedication to promoting collaboration in vital areas like trade, investment, climate resilience, healthcare, education, and cultural exchange,” the OPM announced. Additionally, it underscores a united vision rooted in historical bonds and promising future partnerships for global South solidarity. As a result, the Nigerian leader will officially be acknowledged as His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, KCOSL (Hon.), President and Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria’s Armed Forces.
