Saint Lucia second at Concacaf U15 girls

The 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship came to a close on Sunday with League C hosts Aruba winning their category after a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Saint Lucia. Amaya Emmanuel continued her rampant ways, scoring her 11th goal for Saint Lucia in this competition. The young striker from Soufriere is also a talented table tennis player, not to mention a former goalkeeper, at the Under-10 level. But she has been banging them in for Soufriere and Saint Lucia over the past two years, having also had experience in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Girls’ Under-14 Challenge Series. After Emmanuel’s goal in the 12th minute, however, the home team tied it up in the 27th as Adannayah Breinburg scored from a gorgeous long-range strike. The deadlock remained until time added on, when a defensive lapse allowed Zyana Rogers to get to a loose ball inside the area. The Saint Lucian custodian, who had had a very busy day up to that point, was unable to make the stop at 70’+6’ and Aruba completed the comeback to be crowned champions.
