Saint Lucia got their pursuit of the 2024 Winlott Inc Windward Islands Cricket Board Under-15 Championship title underway in fine fashion, beating Grenada by five wickets on Sunday at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. Saint Lucia captain and player-of-the-match Jeanille Williams led in the field, and with ball and bat, ably supported by Daniel Lorde, Kaleb Charles, Kyle Stephens, and Trevern Edward. Williams won the toss and elected to field. He started the Grenada innings behind the stumps, but laid down the gloves to pick up 3-21 from six overs. Lorde and Williams terrorized Grenada’s middle and lower order, Lorde capturing 3-7 from just 2.2 overs. Charles removed two of the top three batters, and ended with figures of 2-15 from five overs. Grenada were eventually bowled out for 115 in 32.2 overs, Jamie Wickham 35 off 64 balls. But Saint Lucia head coach Alton Crafton would not have been pleased to see 33 wides, five no-balls, and three leg byes, extending the Grenada innings.
