On May 24 and 25, 2025, San Francisco invites locals to immerse themselves in the rich cultures of the African Diaspora during its anticipated Carnaval festival, themed “Afro-Mundo: African Diaspora in the Americas.” With a history spanning 47 years, this vibrant celebration kickstarts the summer, emphasizing the global cultural exchanges embodied in Samba, Salsa, Jazz, and Hip Hop. May 24 will feature bustling festivities on Harrison Street, showcasing food stalls, DJ block parties, and artisan crafts. Notable performers include Wampi with authentic Cuban tunes and Camilo Lara’s Mexican Institute of Sound. The main festivities commence at 11 a.m., wrapping up at 6 p.m. The grand parade unfolds on May 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., led by accomplished Grand Marshalls John Santos and Dandha Da Hora. Expect over 3,000 artists representing diverse cultures from across the Americas. Entry to the Carnaval is free, with premium seating available along Mission Street for $40.
