Following the release of an emotional video that seemed to respond to President Donald Trump’s recent immigration crackdown earlier this week, Selena Gomez criticized a Republican congressman who stated she should be deported.
Soon after the video was aired, Sam Parker, a 2018 Republican Senate candidate from Utah, criticized it on his personal account on X and said, “Deport Selena Gomez.” The 32-year-old Emilia Pérez actress responded to Parker’s tweet on Instagram.
She posted on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Oh, Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”
Gomez appears to have responded to the latest wave of deportations in the United States with a few words in a since-deleted video that she published on her Instagram Stories. She typed “I’m sorry” and a Mexican flag emoji in text overlaying the video.
In the video, she stated: “All my people are getting attacked, the children,”. “I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
