2000: graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, making her the first scientist in the Jones family.

2002: In collaboration with the Division Chief of Clinical Pathology, Shaunte started the Molecular Diagnostics laboratory at Texas Children’s Hospital, developing assays to detect infectious diseases in pediatric patients such as HIV, HCV, C. difficile, Coronaviruses, etc.

2004: One of the nation’s first scientists to obtain a certification in Molecular Biology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

2013: Became a Regional Manager at Memorial Hermann Health System overseeing the Infection Prevention program for six hospitals.
&
2016: Became the first black woman to hold the executive position of System Director of Clinical Epidemiology & Infection Prevention at UCLA Health in its 61 year history.
