A Navy veteran, Harold Powell Sr., who performs music near Seattle’s waterfront, expresses gratitude for his survival after being shot during a confrontation prosecutors describe as both senseless and intentional. Powell's family suspects the incident was a hate crime given his race.On July 31, while performing outside a Starbucks at Pier 55, the 68-year-old wheelchair user was accosted by 32-year-old Gregory William Timm, who falsely accused him of “stolen valor.” Tensions rose after Timm demanded identification and forcibly removed a military patch from Powell’s wheelchair. As Powell sought his ID and reached for a knife for protection, Timm allegedly retreated and fired a .45 caliber handgun, striking Powell in the chest. Fortunately, the bullet missed vital organs. Timm has since been charged with first-degree assault, facing significant legal repercussions, including a potential life sentence. The victim's family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to aid his recovery. (Photo: X/@JeremyHarrisTV)
