On April 30, the city of Columbia unveiled a statue celebrating Dawn Staley, head coach of the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team. Positioned at the intersection of Senate and Lincoln streets near the Pastides Alumni Center, this monument, created with Statues for Equality and local organizations, honors her outstanding achievements, including three NCAA championships and significant social advocacy. The unveiling ceremony is set for 4 p.m. EST, though it remains uncertain if it will be live-streamed.
