The Alabama Rivers Alliance and Black Warrior Riverkeeper have graciously contributed 17 copies of the new edition of Southern Exposure, an acclaimed documentary series that sheds light on Alabama's natural resources, to the Birmingham Public Library (BPL). “The 2024 edition features stunning short films that will enhance our collection and be accessible for borrowing at all BPL locations,” remarked Janine Langston, executive director of BPL. This donation ensures each of BPL's 17 branches contains a DVD of the 2024 series, produced by independent filmmakers covering various environmental themes in Alabama. Previous editions are already available at all BPL sites, thanks to earlier donations. “Every BPL location providing these documentaries is a point of pride for us,” stated Charles Scribner, executive director of Black Warrior Riverkeeper. Kelly Marshall, Deputy Director of Alabama Rivers Alliance, added that their collaborative efforts with BPL ensure that these significant films remain accessible. The Altamont School will debut the new 2025 Southern Exposure films on September 19, with the event expected to foster engaging discussions among filmmakers and environmental advocates.
