Saint Lucia’s Piton Sparks showcased their dominance in the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) International Netball Series on Monday, securing victories against Montserrat and Dominica. The competition has reached its third day at the Tanteen Netball Facility in St. George’s, Grenada, after rain postponed Sunday’s matches.The encounter with Montserrat was disrupted on Saturday, with Saint Lucia holding a commanding lead of 38-5. Montserrat opted out of the court on Monday morning, resulting in an automatic win for the Sparks. Their second match against Dominica was more challenging, but Saint Lucia ultimately triumphed 53-47, preserving their unbeaten status.Currently, Saint Lucia captain Malika Destang ranks eighth in overall scoring, netting 30 goals from 35 attempts, placing her fifth in shooting accuracy at 85.71%. Both player-coach Shem Maxwell and Semaj Marguerite recorded impressive statistics, hitting 25 goals out of 34 attempts, achieving a 75.53% success rate.In related matches, Antigua & Barbuda defeated Montserrat 53-14, while Anguilla surpassed Guyana 42-21. Barbados narrowly overcame Grenada 68-60, and defending champions St. Vincent & the Grenadines triumphed over the Cayman Islands 55-43. On Tuesday, Saint Lucia is set to clash with Antigua & Barbuda at 7 p.m.
