SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Moses Malone reaches scoring milestone

The late Moses Malone was one of the most talented but unsung players in NBA history. For his career, he averaged 20.3 points per game and 12.3 rebounds. And when he wasadded to the Philadelphia 76ers back in the 1982-1983 season via trade from the Houston Rockets, he allowed his team to take its game to another level and win a title. Eventually, Malone would move on from the 76ers and go play for Washington Bullets, Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks, before finding his way back to the 76ers in the 1993-1994 season.
When Malone made his way back to Philly, he was not the same player that he was earlierin his career. He averaged only 5.3 points per game in 11 minutes per game in limitedminutes. But when he was on the court, he was as effective as he had been during his entire career.
