Perennial contenders Monarch will face Chesters Sports Club in the final of the 2024 Shawn Edward Football Tournament this Friday. The teams will decide the title of Mabouya Valley Football League champions, after winning their way through the semifinals on Monday. At the La Ressource Playing Field, Monarch defeated Aux Lyons United 4-3 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Scoring for Aux Lyons was Armani Agdomar in the 45th minute, while Monarch’s equaliser came in the 80th minute from Kendel Alexander. in the second semifinal, Chesters Sports Club recorded an impressive win, beating Togetherness Youth 6-0. Among the goalscorers were Joanis Pelage in the 37th minute, Kervon Edward with a five-minute brace, in the 54th and 58th minute, Kurlan Severin in the 74th minute, Shakim Brim in the 82nd minute, and Vernonlee Marcellin in the 83rd minute. The third-place playoff and final will be played on Friday, December 13th at the La Ressource Playing Field, where Aux Lyons United will face Togetherness Youth from 6 p.m. and Monarch will clash with Chesters from 8 p.m. for the grand prize.
