DJ Akademiks has become a primary source for Hip-Hop news in recent years, much to the chagrin of artists and other voices in the space. Statik Selektah recently expressed how he disapproves of Elliott Wilson and Joe Budden giving the Off The Record host a platform.
The 42-year-old producer appeared on BagFuel this week and was asked about his disdain for the former Everyday Struggle host. “He disrespected the queen Erykah Badu, that’s number one on the top of my list,” Selektah said. “Number two is he’s disrespectful to Hip-Hop. I mean, he’s not a DJ but he puts that in front of his name.” The hosts attempted to correct him and say Ak DJ’d when he attended Rutgers University, but the Trillstatik 3 artist wasn’t hearing it.
