By Genoa Barrow | OBSERVER Senior Staff Writer Anthony Graves has been in therapy more than a decade, but still faces a number of mental health challenges, some of which he’s only just now getting clarity on. “I don’t really feel like I’m on the road to recovery,” says Graves, 35. “Right now, I feel stuck still. I am dealing with questioning myself and I blame myself for not learning certain things until now. I’m stuck there and I don’t know how to get out of it.” Graves says he deals with anger, depression, bad thoughts and codependency and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and depression by a new doctor, after being told by his first doctor that he had none of those things. “Kaiser refused to diagnose me and give me proper help with PTSD, ADHD, OCD, depression, and some other diagnoses that I ended up getting after I left them,” Graves says. “They didn’t think I needed the roundabout help I really needed because of their own biases about me, even when I tried to tell them otherwise.” Graves has made strides, but feels held back by his mental health...
