A disturbing indifference persists towards the plight of individuals in Sudan, one of Africa's largest nations.In the last two years, over 150,000 lives have been lost amid escalating conflict, displacing 12 million individuals from their homes—an alarming humanitarian crisis indeed. During conflicts, women and children are often disproportionately affected, facing heightened risks of displacement and gender-based violence, a harsh reality in Sudan as well.For more than 24 months, Sudan has endured horrific acts: massacres, sexual violence, ethnic cleansing, and famine. More than 24 million of its 50 million citizens struggle with hunger. The United Nations now recognizes Sudan as one of the most significant humanitarian crises globally. Yet, where is the international outcry?The most tragic toll falls upon children, with UNICEF revealing that boys represent one-third of child victims. The profound trauma experienced by these innocent souls demands immediate global attention. If Black lives truly matter, then they must matter everywhere.While the U.S. acknowledges possible genocide in Darfur, the people of Sudan require sustained action and compassion.
