Amidst this turmoil, CEO Brian Cornell's pay surged to $20.4 million last year, marking a 6.3% rise. His compensation included $16.1 million in stock options, a base salary of $1.4 million, and $2.3 million in bonuses. This situation intensifies as the retailer withdraws critical commitments relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), particularly its 2021 vow to invest $2 billion in supporting Black-owned enterprises and enhancing the Black consumer experience.
