NASHVILLE—Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti revealed a lawsuit filed in Davidson County Chancery Court aimed at dissolving the National Foundation for Transplants, Inc. (NFT). This action follows a thorough investigation into NFT’s fundraising practices. Despite announcing its closure in April 2024, concerns arose about mismanaged donor funds. “Discrepancies in NFT’s representations must be addressed,” Skrmetti stated. The lawsuit alleges NFT misled donors, claiming funds would benefit specific patients, yet categorized them as general assets. The court's decision may lead to asset redistribution to a similar nonprofit.
