When I got to the Wheaton station for the Metro, Washington, D.C.’s subway system, at a quarter past 5 last Tuesday, I realized I was going to be late.& Granted, the event I was headed to was just a 30-minute ride away, and wouldn’t start for two hours. But I was headed to Vice President Kamala Harris’s rally at the Ellipse, a park just south of the White House.
