Alabama Officer Detained at Disney World for Alleged Kidnapping of Mississippi Man

On May 24, a house party in Mississippi became the backdrop for alarming events. After the homeowner reached out, off-duty Alabama officer David Cunningham arrived in his patrol vehicle to intervene in a dispute involving an alleged dog shooter.Cunningham detained the individual, placing him in his cruiser before local police were notified. Subsequently, Harrison County deputies identified Cunningham’s vehicle and approached him as he exited, identifiable by his badge and firearm. He claimed to be an officer, but his actions were deemed unauthorized.The alleged shooter was released, citing fear of his life due to Cunningham’s actions, which led to a kidnapping warrant. On June 3, Cunningham was arrested at an Orlando resort by authorities.A day prior, his companion, Kristin Allen, turned herself in, accused of complicity. Cunningham remains in custody on a $500,000 bond, pending extradition. Prichard Police launched an internal review to assess consequences for the incident.
