(The Dallas Examiner) – The 2024 MLB All-Star Week began with 50 of the top baseball players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities taking the stage at the Globe Life Field. The second annual HBCU Swingman Classic, held July 12, placed a spotlight on the collegiate talent yet again with a night they may never forget.HBCU Division-1 baseball student-athletes were offered the chance to play on the field where the defending 2023 World Series champions, the Texas Rangers, call home. Giving them a taste of what could be a reality of the near future, the players were watched by scouts, professionals and over 16,000 fans during the game.Related Stories
Players were split among two teams full of flair, expertise and liveliness: the American League and the National League. Both teams were sure to take advantage of the opportunity, leaving it all out on the field. The American League was victorious, ending the game in a close score of 5-4 and celebrating with a series of backflips.HBCU culture swarmed the entire stadium during the game with performances from Divine Nine fraternities and sororities.
